Frequently Asked Questions

The FITT in PhysioFITT is an acronym and stands for:

  • Frequency of activity
  • Intensity of activity
  • Type of activity
  • Time or duration of activity

PhysioFITT does not have a formal clinic space.  Our therapists provide physiotherapy services almost anywhere – in your home, at the gym, in the park, at the pool, or anywhere else.  If the patient prefers an appointment in a clinic environment, the therapist can arrange a suitable location.  PhysioFITT also offers online consultations, similar to Skype or FaceTime, that allow you to access physiotherapy services from anywhere with an internet connection.

See the “Fees ” tab in the menu above.  PhysioFITT prices are within the industry standard and, when compared to the recommended provincial 1:1 hourly rate, are well below the standard.  All PhysioFITT physiotherapists are registered with the regulatory college.  Physiotherapy services are covered by most third party health insurance providers.

Click a “book appointment” button for your community on the bottom of this page, on the home page or go to the “Find A Physio” tab and search for a physio in your community.  By clicking on the “Learn More” link on that therapists biography, you will find a button that allows you to book an appointment online with that therapist.

For travel outside of the therapist’s community, we charge the industry standard travel rate of $0.50 per km.  Travel costs are generally not reimbursed by insurance companies.

A physiotherapist is a health care professional who helps people achieve their health related goals. Physiotherapists have extensive knowledge on the human body, how it moves and works, and techniques on how to improve it’s overall function. Physiotherapists have either a Bachelor or Master’s level education and stay up to date on the latest research in order to provide the best care for our patients. Physiotherapists are able to effectively assess and treat the musculoskeletal (muscles, joints, and other soft tissues), neurological (nervous system), and cardiorespiratory (heart and lungs) related health problems.

No. Physiotherapists are primary care providers which means they are able to assess and treat you without a doctor’s referral. This helps to speed up your recovery. If more testing or medical intervention is required, the physiotherapist will refer you back to your physician. If you have extended health benefits, we suggest you check with your insurance company as some may require a doctor’s referral.
